In 2 PLAYER GAME, Mario and Luigi will alternate play. However, if Mario and Luigi are in the same location on the map, either player can start a battle by pressing  . When an enemy emerges from the pipes, jump and punch the floor to flip it over. Once it is flipped over, kick it to defeat it. The first player to defeat five enemies or collect five coins without touching an enemy wins. That player will then continue play from the map screen. The loser will have to wait for his or her turn, but will not lose any lives. Also note that jumping on or punching your opponent from below will cause him or her to drop cards that you can then steal.
