In a 2 PLAYER GAME, player 1 (with controller 1) is Mario and player 2 (with controller 2) is Luigi. Player 1 and 2 take turns clearing levels. However, if Mario and Luigi are on the same action panel on the map, either player can start a battle by pressing . During a battle, when an enemy emerges from the pipes, jump and punch the floor from below to flip it over. Once it is flipped over, kick it to defeat it. The player who defeats the most enemies or collects the most coins, wins. That player will then continue to play from the mapscreen. The loser will have to wait for his or her turn, but will not lose any lives. Also note that jumping on or punching your opponent from below will cause him/her to drop cards that you can then steal.
