The game is constructed of a total of eight areas, with each area composed of a 2D stage and multiple 3D levels.

In 2D stages, you control the vehicle and can get in and out of it at will. In 3D levels, you control Jason only.

You begin each area in 2D. Your mission will take you into many 3D levels, which you can access using the entrances scattered throughout the stage. To enter them, press to get out of the armoured vehicle, then press ⇩ in front of the entrance.

To progress to the next area, defeat the Mutant Boss hidden in the depths of the 3D levels. You will then obtain an item to power up your vehicle, enabling you to make your way through to the next area!

When you take damage from an enemy, the Power Gauge goes down. When the gauge is empty and you take damage, you lose one life. When all three lives are gone, the game is over. You can then continue up to four times, but you will begin again from the start of the current area.
