After defeating the boss of each stage, you will acquire their special weapon. To select a weapon or weapon parts, press to display the weapon selection screen. Use to select the weapon you want to use and to confirm your selection (you can also do this mid-play by using and ). If you use a special weapon, your weapon energy will decrease, however it will be replenished if you change stages.

Note:
- When selecting a weapon, press and together to switch back to the X-Buster.
- To leave an already cleared stage, select EXIT by pressing on the weapon selection screen.

Arm Parts	By equipping this power-up, you will be able to perform a Double Charge Shot with the X-Buster. Press and hold , then release for one shot, then press again to fire a second. Also, when you have a special weapon equipped, press and hold to charge, then release to use a special attack.
Body Armor	When you find this armour, damage dealt to you by some of the enemy projectile attacks will be accumulated and can be used to perform a huge Giga-Crush attack. When the weapon energy gauge for this weapon is full, select G.CRUSH from the weapon selection screen and press to perform an attack that will damage every enemy on screen. Note: After acquiring the Body Armor, the damage you receive will also be reduced.
Item Tracer	With this upgrade you will be able to find hidden elements within the stages. Select I.TRACER from the weapon selection screen, and press within a stage to use it. A cross-hair will point to hidden passages and items that may be found nearby (this does not deplete your weapon energy).
Air Dash	By equipping this upgrade, you will be able to perform a dash in mid-air. Press twice or to dash through the air. You may use the Air Dash to reach places you would not usually be able to do so by jumping.

Note: After acquiring the Arm Parts and Air Dash upgrades, you will move up and down ladders faster.
