 The Parts Select Screen will be displayed when you exit the Shop (if you have any parts to upgrade) or grab the Select (SEL) Marker during the flight. Use  up and down to move the arrow and press  or  ( or,  for Classic Controller) to equip other parts you have. Upgrade your ship in the following areas to improve your fighting abilities.
SPEED UP
Boost up your ship’s speed to avoid enemies and their shots.
WEAPON 1
Power-up your shot weapon. Weapons purchased can only be used for a limited time. See remaining time (in seconds) next to the name of the weapon on the game display. When the time is up, the weapon will return to the default shot.
WEAPON 2 (BOMB)
Select a powerful bomb to drop. With the exception of Twin Bombs, the bombs are effective for one attack only and will reset to the default bomb after use.
