 Unjust deaths were dealt upon nine of history's greatest and most influential warriors, and the future now stands at the brink of chaos. The Eternal Champion has summoned the souls of the nine and placed them in competition. The winner will be rewarded a second chance to prevent their own death, and in doing so restore balance to a desperate world.
From the Title Screen, press  to open the Main Menu. Menus are navigated by using  up and down, and to select. The Main Menu options are as follows:

 Choosing Your Fighter
The Fighter Selection Screen is shown before a Practice fight, Contest or Tournament. Press left or right to choose a character and press to begin. In one-player Practice or Battle Room fights, use the Opponent setting in the Game Options to choose your opponent. In multi-player competitions, both players pick their own characters.
