Note: While playing a course, you can press , , and / simultaneously to return to the Yoshi Select screen. This will cost you one Yoshi.

Crouch	Tilt down to crouch.
Enter a Pipe/Vase	Stand on an upward-facing pipe or vase, then tilt down to enter. You can also stand below a downward-facing pipe, jump, and continue tilting up to enter from below.
Enter a Door	Stand in front of a door and tilt up to enter.
Flutter Jump	Press and hold while in the air to float for a short time.
Ground Pound	Tilt down while in the air to perform a ground pound.
Sniff-Sniff	Sniff with to search for hidden objects. If you do a ground pound at the point where Yoshi has the strongest reaction, you might find something good!
Throw an Egg	Press and hold , then adjust your aim with . Release when you are ready to fire. You can cancel a throw by pressing while aiming.
Launch as an Egg	While Yoshi is inside an egg, tilt and release to fly to new heights!
Return to Normal from inside Egg	While Yoshi is inside an egg, press to abort launch or to break free from the egg while flying.
