Getting Started

The main menu appears if you press either , , or on the title screen. Select with and confirm with .
Main Menu
1P/2P/3P/4P Enjoy tennis with the number of players you select. Select a character, then decide the game mode.
Continue If the game’s progress has been saved, you can pick up where you left off. Select a save file.
Special Games Play in a special game mode where you try to get 5 or 7 points first. You can also watch a game between computer-controlled players.
*Ring Tournament is an event mode used in the original Nintendo 64 version of Mario Tennis. This mode is not supported in the Virtual Console version of this software. Even if you enter an entry code, you will not be able to play.
Options In Status, you can view one-player match results. In Saved Data, you can delete saved data. In Music, you can turn in-game music on or off. In Sound, you can choose between stereo and mono.
*Once saved data is deleted, it cannot be retrieved, so be careful.

Selecting a Character
On the screen where you select a character to play, if you press to confirm while holding down or /, you can make the character left-handed.
*Multiple players are not able to select the same character.
*The Virtual Console version of this software does not support the Transfer Pak. You will not be able to play using characters from Mario Tennis for Game Boy Color or send messages.

All-Around Good at all facets of the game.
Technical Hits accurate shots.
Speed Moves quickly on the court.
Power Hits powerful shots.
Tricky Moves by flying in the sky.

Selecting Play Mode
You can select from five different play modes.
During multiplayer games, each player will need a controller compatible with the Virtual Console. For more information, check the Wii Operations Manual.
