Experience points are acquired by defeating enemies in battle or finding a Star Piece. Once a character gains enough experience points, that character will level up. When a character levels up, their stats will go up (with the exception of Speed), and their HP is refilled. They will also learn new special techniques on occasion.

After the Level Up screen appears, you will be taken to the Bonus screen, where you can improve one aspect of your stats. Select one of the three bonuses and press to confirm.
