Your characters will obtain experience points (EXP) every time you defeat an enemy. Once you earn a certain amount of EXP, your level will increase by 1 and your HP and stats will improve.

Weapon Level

As a character continues to use a particular weapon, their skill points with that weapon gradually increase. When these points reach 100, that character’s skill level with the weapon will increase, allowing them to perform more powerful moves. The maximum skill level possible is represented by the weapon’s maximum weapon level, which can be increased by having your weapons forged with orbs by a weapon smith.

Magic Level

Every time you use magic, the character’s skill points with the Elemental that rules that magic increase. When the skill points reach 100, the magic level of that Elemental will increase, allowing you to perform more powerful spells. As you progress through the game and increase your Mana Power, your maximum magic level will increase even further.
