Getting Started

Press

to skip to the title screen. At the title screen, press

to select GAME START, PASS WORD, or OPTION MODE, and then press

to confirm your selection.

Option Mode


KEY CONFIG.	This option allows you to change the settings for the different buttons used in the game. Highlight the action you wish to change, and then press the button you wish to use. It will change automatically.

SOUND MODE	This option allows you to select either STEREO or MONAURAL sound. Press to highlight the option you wish to use.

BGM	This option allows you to hear the various background music used in the game. Press to change the number and then press to hear the music.

S.E.	This option allows you to hear the sound effects used in the game. Press to change the number, and then press to hear the sound effect.

EXIT	Highlight this option, and press to exit the option mode.

Stage-Selection Screen

Guide X through the first stage of his journey, where he will meet Zero. After this stage, you can choose which Maverick to battle. You can start from any of the stages displayed on the stage-selection screen. Select the stage with

, then press

Lives and Game Over
During a stage, if X’s life energy is depleted, or if he falls into a hole or is hit by a needle block, X’s lives are reduced by one. If you lose a life when you have zero lives remaining, the game is over. When the game ends, a screen with your password will appear. If you press any button on this screen, you will be taken back to the stage-selection screen. You can check the number of lives left during the game on the system-status screen.
