Throughout the stages, you will find various items. These items may be dropped by enemies, or simply found within the stage itself.

Life Energy	These come in a large and a small size. The small will replenish your life gauge by 2, and the larger will replenish it by 8.
Weapon Energy	This item also comes in 2 sizes, the smaller one will replenish your weapon energy gauge by 2, and the larger will replenish it by 8. Additionally, when the weapon energy gauge of your equipped weapon is full or you have the X-Buster equipped, the energy of your weapons on the weapon selection screen will be replenished instead, beginning from the top of the list.
1UP	Increases X’s remaining lives by 1 (you can hold up to 9).
Energy sub-tank	There are 4 of these hidden throughout the 8 stages. If you gain Life Energy when your Life Gauge is full, the extra energy will be stored in this tank. Select from the weapon selection screen and press to use your collected energy to replenish your Life Gauge.
Life-Up	You will find only one of these hidden in each stage. Collect to increase your Life Gauge.
