Menu Guide
This is a brief guide to the options available on the various menus in the game. For further information about the menu options, highlight them and press to use the Help icon.

Note: The menu options available to you can differ depending on your current progress through the game.

World Map Menu
This menu is accessed by pressing on the world map screen.

Organize Screen Displays the unit management screen.
Hugo Report View all events that have occurred in the game and access game tips.
  • People
    Description of the major characters. This is not displayed during the Prologue.
  • Events
    Chronicle of all events that have occurred. Some scenes can be replayed by pressing .
  • Miscellany
    Miscellaneous information, such as a history of Palatinus and information on the Lodis Empire, etc.
  • Tips
    Helpful information for completing the game. Refer to this when you need guidance.
Area Investigation Return to a previously conquered area.
Training Train units at the training grounds in each area.
Settings Adjust game settings.
  • Message Speed
    Set text display speed.
  • Cursor Speed
    Set cursor speed.
  • Help Display
    Toggle Auto-Help ON and OFF.
  • Icon Name Display
    Toggle the name display under each icon ON and OFF.
  • Game Speed
    Set the rate at which time passes on the field map. There are three options to choose from.
  • Legion Indicator
    Toggle the Legion icon on the field map screen ON and OFF.
  • Destination Display
    Toggle the name display of a destination ON and OFF.
  • Unit Report Type
    Set the report type of the unit’s actions on the field map screen.
  • Battle Action Name
    Toggle the name display of magic and special attacks on the battle screen ON and OFF.
  • Battle Animation
    Toggle battle animations ON and OFF.
  • Quick Exit
    Add the Quick Exit function to on the unit management screen.
  • Cancel All
    Add the Cancel All function to on the unit management screen.
  • Sound Settings
    Set sound output to STEREO or MONO. This can also be changed on the title screen.
  • Restore Defaults
    Reset all settings to default.
Save Save game data. See “11. Saving” for more information.

Main Command Menu
This menu is accessed by pressing on the field map screen.

Dispatch Dispatch your forces across the field map.
Organize Screen Reorganise units garrisoned at your headquarters.
Use Item Use items from your inventory.
Elem Pedra Display the status of your Elem Pedra.
Settings Change game settings. This has the same options as its counterpart on the world map menu.
Mission Objective Display the winning conditions for the current scenario.
Suspend Save your progress as a Suspend Save. See “11. Saving” for more information.
End Exit the current area and return to the world map screen. This option is only available when revisiting an already conquered area.

Unit Command Menu
This menu is accessed by highlighting a unit or legion on the field map screen and pressing .

Commands Issue commands to both units and legions.
  • Move
    Move units and legions by setting waypoints.
  • Direction
    Assign a combat facing to a waiting unit. If assigned to a moving unit, the unit will stop.
  • Orders
    Set a unit’s actions while moving and waiting.

    Note: This will only appear when a unit is set to carry out a specific action.

  • Destination
    Display a unit’s destination. This is only available when the unit is moving.
  • Retreat
    Order units to retreat. This is only usable on units in your headquarters.
Unit Commands Issue commands to units.
  • Battle Strategy
    Select the battle strategy for a unit.
  • Formation
    Assign a formation to a unit. Grey squares cannot be used.
  • Use Item
    Use expendable items carried by the unit.
  • Change Leader
    Change the leader of a unit, if a second leader is available.
Legion Commands Issue commands to legions.
  • Formation
    Assign a formation to a legion.
  • Division Placement
    Change the placement of legion divisions.
Stronghold Commands Issue commands to units and legions garrisoned in a stronghold. This will only be available when your unit/legion is positioned on top of a stronghold.
  • Enter Stronghold
    Enter the stronghold. You can gather information from the inhabitants.
  • Stronghold Information
    Display the stronghold’s population, morale and other information.
  • Shop
    Visit the stronghold’s shop. Items purchased are kept either in your inventory or with the unit that purchases them.
  • Witch Den
    Visit the stronghold’s witch den. Fallen characters can be raised and petrified characters can be cured here.
  • Exchange Characters
    Exchange characters between units garrisoned at the same stronghold.
  • Exchange Items
    Exchange items between units garrisoned at the same stronghold.
  • Exchange Units
    Exchange units and legion divisions garrisoned at the same stronghold.
Camp Order units to make camp and rest. Only fatigued units can be ordered to camp.

Note: If the unit is already camping, this option will be replaced by BREAK CAMP.

Status Display the status of the unit and individual characters.

Unit Management Menu
This menu is accessed by pressing on the unit management screen.

Character Commands Manage individual characters.
  • Equip Item
    Equip an item to a character.
  • Unequip Item
    Equip a character’s default item.
  • Change Class
    Change the class of eligible characters.
  • Discharge
    Remove a character from your army permanently.
  • Change Name
    Change a character’s name. This is not available for all characters.
Unit Commands Manage units.
  • Form Unit
    Form a new unit. An eligible leader must be available.
  • Add Character
    Add a character to a unit.
  • Remove Character
    Remove a character from a unit. Removing the unit leader will disband the unit.
  • Formation
    Change the formation of characters in a unit.
  • Exchange Characters
    Exchange characters between units.
  • Change Leader
    Change the leader of the unit. An eligible leader must be available.
  • Battle Strategy
    Change the battle strategy of the unit.
  • Carry Item
    Equip an item to a unit.
Legion Commands Manage legions.
  • Form Legion
    Form a new legion. You need a unit eligible to be a Legion Core.
  • Add Unit
    Add a unit to the legion.
  • Remove Unit
    Remove units from a legion. Removing the Legion Core will disband the legion.
  • Formation
    Change the formation of the legion.
  • Reorganize Units
    Change the location of units in a legion. All units must be connected.
Class Commands Manage class-related functions.
  • List Class
    List available classes in your army. You can change class here as well.
  • Buy Equipment
    Purchase basic equipment for all classes.
  • Replace Soldiers
    Replenish soldiers from reserves.
Item Commands Manage items.
  • Use Item
    Use an expendable item. Some items cannot be used from this menu.
  • Remove Item
    Unequip items.
  • List Item
    List all items and equipment. You can also sort them manually.
  • Sort Item
    Sort items by user-selected criteria and category.
  • Sell Item
    Sell item for ¼ of its purchase price.
Sort Sort legions, units or characters according to different criteria.
Exit Exit the unit management screen.

Interrupt Command Menu
This menu is accessed by pressing or   on the battle screen. For more information about its usage, see “8. Combat”.

Battle Strategy Change the unit’s battle strategy.
Talk Persuade a neutral character to join you. This is only available if you are fighting a neutral character.
Retreat Order the unit to retreat. This is only available after the Interrupt Gauge has filled twice.
Elem Pedra Summon an elemental spirit. This is only available after the Interrupt Gauge has filled three times.
